Why did we create Canada Chai Concentrates?
Canada Chai was created because our customers requested a healthy chai drink that was less sweet than the ones available in the market: Canada Chai is a natural spiced tea using only natural sweeteners like honey and maple syrup, without any additional oils or flavorings. CANADA CHAI ORIGINAL: THE SWEETENERS
Why are honey and maple syrup healthier than other sugars?
If you have to choose between honey, maple syrup and other sugars, always, always, choose honey or maple syrup. They are natural sweeteners, and healthier for your body.
Replacing refined sugar with natural sweeteners, and using them in moderation, is the best way to lose weight, maintain health and avoid disease.
HONEY: THANK YOU FOR THOSE TIRELESS BEES…
It’s tasty and it's good for your health.
Has two dozen beneficial natural sugars and is easily digestible.
Honey is twice as sweet as refined sugar.
Bees have predigested the sugar we get in honey, which changes it to simple sugars (fructose and dextrose) that are easier to digest.
Honey is good for you. And today, medical researchers are confirming what previous generations have always known — having honey in your diet can help you stay healthy and fight disease.
Honey is a natural source of vitamins, minerals and essential amino acids.
Honey contains up to 35% protein and contains half of all the amino acids.
Honey is a highly concentrated source of many nutrients including enzymes, minerals and vitamins B-complex, C, D, and E.
Honey comes from natural plant nectars and contains vitamin B6, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic and certain amino acids. It’s also a source of essential minerals including
calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. While the amounts are in trace levels and will vary depending on the floral source, honey can be an important and delicious part of a healthy diet.
Honey gives you quick energy to keep you going: a natural mixture of the simple sugars glucose and fructose, honey can play an important role in naturally preventing fatigue during exercise.
Stay healthy with the antioxydant benefits in honey.
Honey is loaded with water-soluble antioxydants.
Medical researchers continue to find out more about the important role antioxidants like those in honey play in eliminating harmful free radicals from the human body. Free radicals are believed to be created during metabolism and may contribute to many serious diseases.
Honey that heals
Honey is an effective, natural antimicrobial that inhibits the growth of certain bacteria, yeast and molds and can help scarring. The secret? Honey’s unique combination of high sugar content (which limits the amount of water available to the microorganism for growth), high acidity (which creates a low pH environment) and naturally occurring antioxidants will kill bacteria.
Help the environment with honey
Celebrate the arrival of spring by being good to yourself and to Mother Earth. Every time you choose 100% pure Canadian Honey, you are also helping Canadian farmers and the environment. (Source: Western Canadian Beekepers. Winnipeg, April 2006)
An increasing number of native plants and trees that depend on honeybees as wild pollinators are disappearing from the environment.
MAPLE SYRUP: GIFT FROM THE INDIANS 100% NATURAL GOODNESS
Derived from tree sap: the production of a single litre of syrup requires boiling down 30 to 45 litres of maple sap.
Is fat free. Moreover, maple syrup contains fewer calories than refined white sugar.
Is loaded with high beneficial minerals: potassium, calcium and magnesium which are essentials elements for maintaining good health.
The sugar maple tree can live up to 250 years. It takes a maple tree 40 years to be ready for production.
100% pure Canadian maple syrup is the only sweetener containing three important and essential minerals from Mother nature: potassium, calcium and magnesium.
It takes a lot of sap to make one small bottle of syrup, but it’s worth it: approximately 45 litres of sap will make one litre of maple syrup.
Each spring, in Québec and Eastern Canada, sap starts to flow from the maple sugar trees, a broad-leaved tree largely found in these regions, under very specific weather conditions, that is, at
temperatures between -4ºC (24ºF) and + 4ºC (40 º F).
Maple Syrup Producers tap maple trees to gather the sap and then boil it. No processing or adding any preservatives, only boiling.
The flavour, unlike any other, is due to the syrup’s high mineral content, mainly potassium, calcium and magnesium, which are essential elements for maintaining good health.
No other sweetener has so much nutritional value!
What concerns do we want to address by creating Canada Chai Original?
Wheter you consume 100g of refined sugar or 100g of maple syrup or 100g of honey, in the end they will all be converted to 100 g of sugar (from the refined sugar) in your body, or 66g of sugar (from maple syrup) in your body, or 83 g of sugar (from honey) in your body.
Does this mean maple syrup and honey are just as bad as refined sugar?
No, maple syrup is a source of potassium, calcium and magnesium; honey is a source of B6, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. Refined sugar is only packed with empty calories.
But since your body can only deal with so much sugar at one time, if you consume too much, it can easily wreak havoc on your delicate hormonal balance. Highly processed carbs that raise blood sugar levels come from foods or beverages that are high on the glycemic index. Foods or beverages low on the glycemic index are always your best choices. Lower glycemic foods and beverages have been shown to reduce the risk of obesity and many chronic disease.
The main concern for VitalyTeas is to create natural and healthy drinks that will give consumers better choices in preserving their health.
VitalyTeas wanted to create a beverage that can become the beverage of choice for the people who need to reduce their sugar intake (Diabetics, those watching the carbohydrates and fat intakes, chemical and food sensitive people).
Canada Chai Unsweetened versus "not-so-sweet” or “sugar-free”chais?
We decided to stay away from “sugarless” or "sugar-free" artificial sweeteners and let
consumers decide on their own way to sweeten their drink. Our customers know best what they want as sweeteners in their chai.
We decided to let them ADD THEIR OWN SWEETENER!
Our market research shows those who prefer unsweetened chai are really looking for a chai with no artificial additives or sweeteners.
And those who are drinking “not-so-sweet” or “sugarless” chais still find them too sweet, and with an artificial after-taste.
Why? Using saccharin, aspartame, or other sugar substitutes does not work well with chai because these artificial sweeteners leave a decidedly bitter aftertaste.

Only organic Assam tea, roasted chicory, fresh ginger and premium whole spices are used to make Canada Chai.
No natural nor artificial flavours are added to Canada Chai. Other Chais add flavourings to compensate for taste lost by not using high quality ingredients and to cut on costs of high quality ingredients.
Since we use only real, high quality spices, we don't need to overpower our Chai concentrate with refined sugar and natural flavors to create a good Chai.
Why Canada Chai is less sweet than other Chai brands.
We only use natural sweeteners like clover honey from Alberta and certified organic maple syrup from Quebec to sweeten Canada Chai Original. Honey and maple syrup are better for your overall health than refined sugar.
